Who we are

Midst Publishing Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, no. 17096507. Registered office: 27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for this website. You can reach us at admin@midstpublishing.com.

We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

What this website collects

Very little. The only thing we deliberately collect is an email address, and only if you ask us to — see Mailing list, below.

This site has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no social media embeds. We do not profile visitors and we do not share information about you with anyone.

Fonts used on this site are served from our own server, not from a third party, so no record of your visit is sent elsewhere.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs. These record your IP address, the pages requested, the time of the request, and your browser’s user-agent string. They exist to keep the site running and secure — diagnosing faults and identifying abuse — and are deleted on the provider’s normal cycle.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: operating a website securely.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies for ordinary visitors. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to administer the site, which is us.

If you email us

If you write to admin@midstpublishing.com we will hold your message and address for as long as needed to deal with it and to keep a record of our correspondence. We keep correspondence for up to three years. We will not add you to our mailing list because you wrote to us — that needs your consent, and joining is something you do yourself, on the sign-up form.

Buying our books

Our books are sold through Amazon. When you follow a link from this site to Amazon, you are on Amazon’s website and their privacy policy applies, not ours. We do not receive your personal details from those purchases.

Children

This website is written for adults — parents, teachers, librarians — although our books are for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and our mailing list is for grown-ups: anyone joining is asked to confirm they are 16 or over.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to our processing it, and to receive a copy. Write to admin@midstpublishing.com and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or call 0303 123 1113.

Mailing list

If you join our mailing list, we ask for your email address and, if you like, a first name. We use them for one thing: to email you when there is a new book. We do not use them for anything else, we do not profile you, and we never share, sell or rent your address.

Our lawful basis is your consent. You give it by ticking the box on the form and then clicking the link in the confirmation email we send — nobody is added to the list without both. You can withdraw it at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any email we send you, which takes effect immediately, or by writing to admin@midstpublishing.com.

Who handles it. The list is held by EmailOctopus (EmailOctopus Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales), who send the emails on our behalf and act only on our instructions. Your address is sent to them from our server; your browser does not contact them, and the sign-up form sets no cookie.

Our books are for children; this list is not. We ask you to confirm you are 16 or over. We do not knowingly collect any child's details, and if we learn we have, we delete them.

How long we keep it. Until you unsubscribe, or until you have not opened anything from us for three years, whichever comes first — then we delete you from the list.

Your rights. You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our using it, by writing to admin@midstpublishing.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
